Dil ke kareeb..

This song has been on my lips for most of this week, a song which I have not heard a lot, just something which I remember from the trailer of the movie. It does not have great lyrics as such, but the melody is amazingly good.

Kiska rasta dekhe

I have been on you tube playlist listening spree for few weeks now, and yesterday I was cooking my breakfast when this was playing on my laptop. One of the songs whose lyrics can just amaze you.

“Kiska Rasta Dekhe, Aye Dil Aye Saudaai
Meelon Hai Khamoshi, Barson Hai Tanhaee
Bhooli Duniya, Kabhiki Tujhe Bhi Mujhe Bhi
Phir Kyon, Aankh Bhar Aayee”

whom shall I wait for, amidst miles of silence and years of loneliness. The world has forgotten me and you, a long time ago, but why do tears fill my eye.

Compelte lyrics below.

Kiska Rasta Dekhe, Aye Dil Aye Saudaai
Meelon Hai Khamoshi, Barson Hai Tanhaee
Bhooli Duniya, Kabhiki Tujhe Bhi Mujhe Bhi
Phir Kyon, Aankh Bhar Aayee

Koi Bhi Saaya Nahin, Raahon Mein
Koi Bhi Aayega Na, Baahon Mein
Tere Liye, Mere Liye, Koi Nahin, Ronewala
Jhoota Bhi Naata, Nahin Chaahon Mein
Tu Hi Kyon Dooba Rahe, Aahon Mein
Koi Kisi, Sang Mare, Aaisa Nahin, Honewala
Koi, Nahin Jo, Yoon Hi, Jahan Mein, Baate Peer Parayee
Kiska Rasta Dekhe, Aye Dil Aye Saudaai...

Tujhe Kya, Beeti Hui Raaton Se
Mujhe Kya, Khoi Hui Baaton Se
Sej Nahin, Chita Sahi, Jo Bhi Mile Sona Hoga
Gai Jo Dori Chhooti, Haathon Se
Lena Kya Toote, Hue Saathon Se
Khushi Jahan, Maangi Toone, Wahin Mujhe Rona Hoga
Na Koi Tera, Na Koi Mera, Phir Kiski Yaad Aai
Kiska Rasta Dekhe Aye Dil Aye Saudaai...

On a side note, I really feel sorry for the lyricist, because after such beautiful words, I struggled to find his name online, who ever it is, has just written wonderful lyrics. I think its Sahir Ludhianvi

Genda Phool

Its been a long long time since some song has stuck to my lips, Emotional Atyachar did it for a couple of days, and thats it. I have always boasted about my love for lyrics, for vocals and what not. Some day you listen to some song you just forget your logics, and it just sticks to you.

I have never been too big a A R Rehman fan, well I have liked some of his songs, but then not like a big fan, but his this creation has just captivated me from last couple of weeks. I cannot say it has great lyrics, not great vocals either, but to say the least, It got the honor of  being a single song on my repeat playlist for  2 hours one of the days last week at work, and at end of it, I wasn’t bored of it . Some song it must be.

People who know my pathetic knowledge of our national language..can they please step in and explain the song to me.

Home

I heard this song as a background score in one of the episodes of one tree hill, the words that caught my ear were

“People I’ve loved, I have no regrets,
Some I remember, some I forget “

I looked it up over the internet, its a song called “Home” by foo fighters, just loved the words
Just read this
Stand in the mirror, you look the same
Just looking for shelter, from the cold and the pain
Some want to cover, safe from the rain”

here are rest of the lyrics

Wish I were with you, but I couldn’t stay.
Every direction leads me away,
Pray for tomorrow, but for today
And all I want is to be home

Stand in the mirror, you look the same
Just looking for shelter, from the cold and the pain
Some want to cover, safe from the rain
And all I want is to be home .

Echoes and silence*,* patience and grace,
All of these moments, I’ll never replace
No fear of my heart, no absence of faith
And all I want is to be home .

All I want is to be home .

People I’ve loved, I have no regrets,
Some I remember, some I forget
Some of them living some of them dead.
And all I want is to be home

Tum pukar lo…

I remember a tele series on Doordarshan long back titled “Talash” with Alok nath and Mausumi chatterjee heading the cast, I remember the series only because of its title song. It was an adapted version of an old Hemanth Kumar melody [of course I didn’t know at that time as I was a small kid], but the song impressed me even back them.

Look at the below lines
Khwaab chun rahi hai raat, beqarar hai
Tumhara intezaar hai, tum pukar lo

Here is the full lyrics

Hm hm hm hm
Hm hm hm, hm hm hm

Tum pukar lo, tumhara intezaar hai, tum pukar lo
Khwaab chun rahi hai raat, beqarar hai
Tumhara intezaar hai, tum pukar lo

Honth pe liye hue, dil ki baat ham
Jaagte rahenge aur, kitni raat ham

Honth pe liye hue, dil ki baat ham
Jaagte rahenge aur, kitni raat ham

Muqtasar si baat hai, tum se pyaar hai
Tumhara, intezaar hai, tum pukar lo

Dil bahal to jaayega, is khayal se
Haal mil gaya tumhara, apne haal se

Dil bahal to jaayega, is khayal se
Haal mil gaya tumhara, apne haal se

Raat ye qaraar ki beqarar hai
Tumhara intezaar hai

Suresh wadkar, not many has heard his name, not as popular as the other singers of his time, but then has an amazingly sweet voice.

Sadma was a movie which got released when I was 2 years old, I admit I do not have strong memories of watching the movie, nor remember the scenes from the movie, but the best part of our Indian movies are its music, long after the movie is forgotten, the makers are no more, still when this song lingers in TV/radio, it forces you to listen to the melody.

look at these words

Chhota Sa Saya Tha, Aakhon Main Aaya Tha,
Humne Do Boondon Se Mann Bhar Liye”

there was a small shadow that was cast in our eyes, and we filled our heart with a couple of tears.

you can find the rest of the lyrics here

“Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
Hum Ne Bhi Tere Har Ik Gam Ko
Gale Se Lagaya Hai
Hai Na ?
Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
Ae Jindgi

Hum Ne Bahane Se, Chhup Ke Jamane Se
Palkon Ke Parde Main Ghar Bhar Liya
Hum Ne Bahane Se, Chhup Ke Jamane Se
Palkon Ke Parde Main Ghar Bhar Liya
Tera Sahara Mil Gaya Hai Jindgi
La La Lala La La Lala La La La
Tera Sahara Mil Gaya Hai Jindgi

Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
Hum Ne Bhi Tere Har Ik Gam Ko
Gale Se Lagaya Hai
Hai Na ?
Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
Ae Jindgi

Chhota Sa Saya Tha, Aakhon Main Aaya Tha,
Humne Do Boondon Se Mann Bhar Liye
Chhota Sa Saya Tha, Aakhon Main Aaya Tha,
Humne Do Boondon Se Mann Bhar Liye
Humko Kinaara Mil Gaya Hai Jindgi
La La Lala La La Lala La La La
Humko Kinaara Mil Gaya Hai Jindgi

Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
La La Lala La La Lala La La La
Hain Na?
Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
Gale Laga Le
Gale Laga Le
Gale Laga Le
Ho, Gale Laga Le”

UTV movies is playing the movie Life in a Metro today, I have watched the movie once before, and have heard the songs many a times, from the lovely AdnanSami’s Baatein kuch ankahi si, to the more popular “In dino”, but today what struck me is the lyrical beauty, rishtey toh nahi..

Here goes the full song

(rishtey toh nahi rishton ki parchaayiyaan mile
yeh kaisi bheed bass yahaan tanhaayiyaan mile) – 2

rishtey toh nahi rishton ki parchaayiyaan mile
yeh kaisi bheed bass yahaan tanhaayiyaan mile

(ek chhat ke tale ajanabi ho jaate hai rishtey
bistar pe chaadaro se chhup so jaate hai rishtey) – 2
dhunde se bhi iname nahi darmaayiyaan mile
yeh kaisi bheed hai bass yahaan tanahaayiyaan mile

(jisko bhi dekhiye woh adhura sa hai yahaan
jaise kahin ho aur woh aadha rakha huwa) – 2
ho jab jahaan jude wahi judaayiyaan mile
yeh kaisi bheed bass yahaan tanhaayiyaan mile

(rishtey toh nahi rishton ki parchaayiyaan mile
yeh kaisi bheed bass yahaan tanhaayiyaan mile) – 2

Just look at these words

ek chhat ke tale ajanabi ho jaate hai rishtey
bistar pe chaadaro se chhup so jaate hai rishtey

People become strangers below the same roof, relationships get hidden below the sheets spread on the bed. Just one word..Lovely.

Urzu Urzdurkut

Sometimes my own likes surprise me, and this song happens to be one such, I always like songs which are hummable, whose lyrics are easy to sing along, and have a lot of meaning. This song first caught my eye, because of the actress, one of the good lookers [according to me], this song has very difficult lyrics, and not such great lyrics either. The choice of color, the nature in the song, and also the melody made the song stuck in mind for long.

Song goes like

"Chann se bole chamake jab charaar bole

kwaab dekha hai aankh ka khumaar bole

kwaab chalke toh aankh se tapake bole

channa chlake toh poora aabshaar bole

urzu urzdurkut urzu urzdurkut

la la la laa

urzu urzdurkut"

Couple of lovely voices.

So I am finally off track, no great lyrics today, song[s] on my mind today are two amazing voices.

One my all time favorite, have been a huge fan since 1995 when I first heard him, he has come out with a new classical based album, even though not close enough to be called his best, a new experiment and a good one too.

This guy lost in the finals of the Indian Idol 1, the first time a singing reality show made it big on Indian television, well not really Meri Awaaz Suno was one of the oldest shows, but then this was the first time something became very popular. Had liked his voice a lot during his Idol days, still I think he has it in him to sing some cool songs.

Yava Mohana Muruli karayito

This one is a song written by one of the great writers in kannada literature, Gopala Krishna Adiga. It was adopted in a movie called “America America” which was on the lines of attraction towards America in modern youth. Even though at that time I did not understand the subject of the movie that well, until I myself was in that situation, the song was something which appealed to me even at a time when I could not appreciate the lyrics that well.

Here it goes

Yava mohana muruli karayito,
doora teerake ninnanu.
yava brundavanavu seLeyito
ninna mannina kannan

What was that music which took you away to the far banks
What flora attracted these eyes that were made of the local soil.

This was about the brain drain that happened at one point to lot of people in India, all trying to move to America, leaving their own soil. This talks about the unseen music and the unseen nature which seem to have taken the youth to the banks of a far sea.

The Life seem to have lost the consciousness, Your enthusiasm seem to have gone into others hands. Life seem to have become about chasing things which you do not have forgetting about the things we have
