Suresh wadkar, not many has heard his name, not as popular as the other singers of his time, but then has an amazingly sweet voice.
Sadma was a movie which got released when I was 2 years old, I admit I do not have strong memories of watching the movie, nor remember the scenes from the movie, but the best part of our Indian movies are its music, long after the movie is forgotten, the makers are no more, still when this song lingers in TV/radio, it forces you to listen to the melody.
look at these words
Chhota Sa Saya Tha, Aakhon Main Aaya Tha,
Humne Do Boondon Se Mann Bhar Liye”
there was a small shadow that was cast in our eyes, and we filled our heart with a couple of tears.
you can find the rest of the lyrics here
“Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
Hum Ne Bhi Tere Har Ik Gam Ko
Gale Se Lagaya Hai
Hai Na ?
Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
Ae Jindgi
Hum Ne Bahane Se, Chhup Ke Jamane Se
Palkon Ke Parde Main Ghar Bhar Liya
Hum Ne Bahane Se, Chhup Ke Jamane Se
Palkon Ke Parde Main Ghar Bhar Liya
Tera Sahara Mil Gaya Hai Jindgi
La La Lala La La Lala La La La
Tera Sahara Mil Gaya Hai Jindgi
Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
Hum Ne Bhi Tere Har Ik Gam Ko
Gale Se Lagaya Hai
Hai Na ?
Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
Ae Jindgi
Chhota Sa Saya Tha, Aakhon Main Aaya Tha,
Humne Do Boondon Se Mann Bhar Liye
Chhota Sa Saya Tha, Aakhon Main Aaya Tha,
Humne Do Boondon Se Mann Bhar Liye
Humko Kinaara Mil Gaya Hai Jindgi
La La Lala La La Lala La La La
Humko Kinaara Mil Gaya Hai Jindgi
Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
La La Lala La La Lala La La La
Hain Na?
Ae Jindgi Gale Laga Le
Gale Laga Le
Gale Laga Le
Gale Laga Le
Ho, Gale Laga Le”
UTV movies is playing the movie Life in a Metro today, I have watched the movie once before, and have heard the songs many a times, from the lovely AdnanSami’s Baatein kuch ankahi si, to the more popular “In dino”, but today what struck me is the lyrical beauty, rishtey toh nahi..
Here goes the full song
(rishtey toh nahi rishton ki parchaayiyaan mile
yeh kaisi bheed bass yahaan tanhaayiyaan mile) - 2
rishtey toh nahi rishton ki parchaayiyaan mile
yeh kaisi bheed bass yahaan tanhaayiyaan mile
(ek chhat ke tale ajanabi ho jaate hai rishtey
bistar pe chaadaro se chhup so jaate hai rishtey) - 2
dhunde se bhi iname nahi darmaayiyaan mile
yeh kaisi bheed hai bass yahaan tanahaayiyaan mile
(jisko bhi dekhiye woh adhura sa hai yahaan
jaise kahin ho aur woh aadha rakha huwa) - 2
ho jab jahaan jude wahi judaayiyaan mile
yeh kaisi bheed bass yahaan tanhaayiyaan mile
(rishtey toh nahi rishton ki parchaayiyaan mile
yeh kaisi bheed bass yahaan tanhaayiyaan mile) - 2
Just look at these words
ek chhat ke tale ajanabi ho jaate hai rishtey
bistar pe chaadaro se chhup so jaate hai rishtey
People become strangers below the same roof, relationships get hidden below the sheets spread on the bed. Just one word..Lovely.
Sometimes my own likes surprise me, and this song happens to be one such, I always like songs which are hummable, whose lyrics are easy to sing along, and have a lot of meaning. This song first caught my eye, because of the actress, one of the good lookers [according to me], this song has very difficult lyrics, and not such great lyrics either. The choice of color, the nature in the song, and also the melody made the song stuck in mind for long.
Song goes like
“Chann se bole chamake jab charaar bolekwaab dekha hai aankh ka khumaar bolekwaab chalke toh aankh se tapake bolechanna chlake toh poora aabshaar boleurzu urzdurkut urzu urzdurkutla la la laaurzu urzdurkut”
So I am finally off track, no great lyrics today, song[s] on my mind today are two amazing voices.
One my all time favorite, have been a huge fan since 1995 when I first heard him, he has come out with a new classical based album, even though not close enough to be called his best, a new experiment and a good one too.
This guy lost in the finals of the Indian Idol 1, the first time a singing reality show made it big on Indian television, well not really Meri Awaaz Suno was one of the oldest shows, but then this was the first time something became very popular. Had liked his voice a lot during his Idol days, still I think he has it in him to sing some cool songs.
This one is a song written by one of the great writers in kannada literature, Gopala Krishna Adiga. It was adopted in a movie called “America America” which was on the lines of attraction towards America in modern youth. Even though at that time I did not understand the subject of the movie that well, until I myself was in that situation, the song was something which appealed to me even at a time when I could not appreciate the lyrics that well.
What was that music which took you away to the far banks
What flora attracted these eyes that were made of the local soil.
This was about the brain drain that happened at one point to lot of people in India, all trying to move to America, leaving their own soil. This talks about the unseen music and the unseen nature which seem to have taken the youth to the banks of a far sea.
The Life seem to have lost the consciousness, Your enthusiasm seem to have gone into others hands. Life seem to have become about chasing things which you do not have forgetting about the things we have
One of my most favorite songs, good lyrics, great visuals. The director Sanjay leela bhansali really masters the art of depicting strong emotions with use of wonderful colors and music. Every time I see the song, I can feel the hope in the actor’s face and his voice.
Of all the songs Sanjay has done, this according to me is his best.
The lines I liked the most have to be,
“Mere Khayaalon Mein Sanam Khud Se Bhi Baatein Karti Hogi Na
Main Dekhta Hoon Chhup Chhupke Tumko Mehsoos Karti Hogi Na”
In my thoughts you must be talking to yourself..
You must be feeling sometimes, as thought I am hiding and watching you”
Hanste Hanste Aankhein Tumhari Bhar Bhar Aati Hogi Na
Mujhko Dhaka Tha Dhoop Mein Jisse Vo Aanchal Bhigoti Hogi Na
As you smile, the eyes might have overwhelmed with tears,
and wet the Aanchal[end of the saree] which had once protected me from sun

Jhonka Hava Ka Aaj Bhi Zulfein Udaata Hoga Na
Tera Dupatta Aaj Bhi Tere Sar Se Sarakta Hoga Na
Baalon Mein Tere Aaj Bhi Phool Koi Sajta Hoga Na
Thandi Havaein Raaton Mein Tujhko Thapkiya Deti Hogi Na
Chaand Ki Thandak Khwaabon Mein Tujhko Leke To Jaati Hogi Na
Sooraj Ki Kirnen Subah Ko Teri Neendein Udaati Hogi Na
Mere Khayaalon Mein Sanam Khud Se Bhi Baatein Karti Hogi Na
Main Dekhta Hoon Chhup Chhupke Tumko Mehsoos Karti Hogi Na
Jhonka Hava Ka Aaj Bhi Zulfein Udaata Hoga Na
Kaagaz Pe Meri Tasveer Jaisi Kuchh To Banati Hogi Na
Ulat Palatke Dekh Ke Usko Jee Bhar Ke Hansti Hogi Na
Hanste Hanste Aankhein Tumhari Bhar Bhar Aati Hogi Na
Mujhko Dhaka Tha Dhoop Mein Jisse Vo Aanchal Bhigoti Hogi Na
Saawan Ki Rimjhim Mera Taraana Yaad Dilati Hogi Na
Ek Ek Meri Baatein Tumko Yaad To Aati Hogi Na
Yaad To Aati Hogi Na
Yaad To Aati Hogi Na
Kya Tum Mere In Sab Sawaalon Ka Kuchh To Jawaab Dogi Na
As I switched on TV, I saw the this song playing, I would have to admit that Laskhya is one of the few movies of Hrithik Roshan which I liked. May be it was not him but the story which I could relate to very well.
The opening lines go
Kitni Baatein Yaad Aati Hai
Tasveerein Si Ban Jaati Hain
Main Kaise Inhein Bhooloon
Dil Ko Kya Samjhaaun “
Kitni Baatein Kehne Ki Hai
Honton Par Jo Sehmi Si Hai
Ik Roz Inhein Sun Lo
Kyun Aise Gum-sum Ho
Kyun Poori Ho Na Paayi Daastaan
Kaise Aayi Hai Aisi Dooriyaan
I was bowled over with the use of words, and the emotions they stood for, even the shots of the song are very apt for the lyrics.
so many words of ours that I remember, form a picture of sorts, how can I forget them, how can I make my heart understand
One of the songs, which I first heard on the program “Rangoli” at an age, where lyrics made no sense to me. My mom, like all other females from her era, is a big fan of Dev Anand, and she used to like this song very much.
I heard this song many times since then, and every time I listen to the song, the last stanza inspires me more and more.
“ Gham Aur Khushi Mein Farq Na Mehsoos Ho Jahan
Main Dil Ko Us Muqaam Pe Laata Chala Gaya“
[A place where I cannot feel the difference between joy and sorrow, I continued taking my heart to that destination...]
Amazing song from the movie Hum Dono, sung by Md Rafi, and lyrics Sahir Ludhianvi.

Here’s the full song.
Main Zindagi Ka Saath Nibhata Chala Gaya
Har Fikar Ko Dhuen Main Udata Chala Gaya
Barbadiyon Ka Shok Manana Fizul Tha
Barbadiyon Ka Jashan Manata Chala Gaya
Har Fikar Ko Dhuen Main Uda…
Jo Mil Gaya Usi Ko Muqaddar Samajh Liya
Jo Kho Gaya Main Usko Bhulata Chala Gaya
Har Fikar Ko Dhuen Mein Uda…
Gham Aur Khushi Mein Farq Na Mehsoos Ho Jahan
Main Dil Ko Us Muqaam Pe Laata Chala Gaya
Har Fikar Ko Dhuen Mein Uda…
